Week 0: Introduction to Wild Wild Week

Hi everyone!

Welcome to Wild Wild Week. Here, I shall talk about the most important events of the week, share my experiences and my learnings from them, and will discuss many more stuffs. Well, more on that later.

Firstly, Wild Wild Week sounds so weird right? Why 2 wilds? What is so ‘Wild’ about the week?

The title was adapted from the 1999 movie Wild Wild West, which, according to critics is one of the worst adaptations of a 60s hit TV series called The Wild Wild West.

So, what does the term Wild West actually mean?

Many of you must be familiar with the Western movie genre. Upon hearing the word ‘Western’, movie buffs would be visualising a moorland with a few houses, a cowboy on a horse, few gunslingers, red Indians, the police, gangsters, and so on. So basically, this genre of movies is based on the Wild West period in American history, that is, the period from 1865 to 1895.

Why was it called wild west? Simply because of the lawlessness and the uncertainty that anything could happen. Just like in the classic westerns.

So, why is this series called Wild Wild Week? It’s simply because of how uncertain and weird things have actually become in 2022. (And maybe it’s also quirky and it’s something that will make you curious.)

Now that the confusion about the title has been dealt with, let’s move on.

The idea for doing this has been circling my mind for the past few months. When I shared this idea with one of my friends, he asked me a question, “Do people still read blogs?”

That question made me ponder for a few days, and the more I thought about it, the more confused I became. Do people really read blogs? Should I try some other format for this thing? Like a podcast maybe? But for that you have to modulate your voice, prepare a different kind of script and have a good microphone. Also, it will consume more time and efforts than writing.

So, finally I decided what I had to do. I would start this off as a blog, then slowly shift to podcast or who knows maybe videos? But that’s for the future.

What else will this be about? As this is the introduction week, I will just explain how this works and the different segments of this series.

So, as mentioned earlier, Wild Wild Week will be a weekly column where I shall share some of the important and quirky news of the week in a humorous way. Sometimes I shall also try to explain some issues, and this space can be used for discussions too. That’s about the first segment.

In the next segment, I shall share one or two of my personal experiences and what I think about them and deduce from them. These will be some well-researched things, which I will try to mention in brief.

The next segment will be about some new things that I have read or learnt. I will share some facts which I think people should know about. Again, these are not going to be assumptions but are going to be based on research.

In the next segment, I shall share the books I am reading, the web series or movie I have watched in the week, the podcasts, videos, or songs I have found interesting.

I will also talk about some ideas and give my opinions on certain issues in these blogs.

The comment section will be open for discussions and I will also be available on WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for further discussions.

Welcome to Wild Wild Week. I thought this introduction was necessary before I start the weekly blog thing, so that you would know what to expect.

If you have any ideas or stories that you would like to share with me, you know where to find me.

Thanks for reading, hoping to see you next week.

Cheers!!
